Is it 2013 yet?

I am ready for a fresh start and a new beginning. I have never been one for writing, or following through with New Years Resolutions, but I could definitely use some change in my life so here goes nothin'! Wish me luck!

FIVE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2013

1) Strengthen my walk with Christ by becoming more involved in church.

2) Improve my health by losing 30 lbs. and quitting smoking.

3) Improve my finances by budgeting, saving, and planning ahead.

4) Strengthen my relationships with my family by spending more time together.

5) Finish school. Can't wait for this one

Mind jumble.

I began an online journal in 2001. Writing has been therapeutic to me through planning the births of my children and learning to be a graceful wife & mother. I also love sharing pictures, commenting, and reading other blogs. Unfortunately, I began writing less for myself and more for an audience. I worried about "What will so-and-so think of me when they read this?" After my 3rd child was born, I decided to step away from the online world.

I'm back and I'm ready to keep it real this time. I miss the connection and understanding, but I'm learning that what others think about me is truly none of my business. Life is too short to worry, all I can do is be honest with myself and hope for the best. I should mention that my husband and I are at a challenging place in our marriage right now. We are going to start marital counseling in January. I hope we will be able to work it out. I  love him and he loves me. We've been through alot together. Sometimes life is just hard.

In the meantime, I'm focused on the kids and having a happy holiday season. Our Elf on the Shelf made his first appearance of the year last night! The girls were so excited to see him that they woke me up at 6 am on a Saturday morning to tell me where he was hiding. :) So sweet. This has been a nice weekend. We have church and dinner out on the schedule for tomorrow and Monday we are taking the kids to see a "Shrek the Halls" ice exhibit.

First-timer!

Well, today is my first blog post  {you are so excited} and also my first time coloring my hair... black! I chose the semi-permanent "Soft Black" by Garnier. I love it, although I think I may even try the blue black level next time because my hair still has a red tint in the sunlight. Now I have hair the same color as my babies. ♥ 

My sister came over and helped me. Then we walked a loop around the neighborhood. It was a nice day. Unfortunately, I think the kids and I may be coming down with colds. In other news, our Elf on the Shelf {named Elfy} makes his appearance tonight. I love this tradition, it will be our 3rd year doing it. I wonder where he will be?!
